00:01 Hi and welcome back.
00:02 I love the fact that God gives us 00:04 all different gifts. 00:06 And some of us are instrumentalists, 00:08 some of us are singers, 00:09 some of us do creative things in other ways, 00:11 like baking awesome apple pies. 00:14 But I have a great special guest, 00:16 he's a friend of mine, 00:17 and his name is Jamie George. 00:19 And many of you know him. 00:20 And he is a wonderful violinist. 00:23 And he is out in California today 00:25 and we caught up with him. 00:26 And so let's see if we can talk to him awhile. 00:29 Hey, Jamie, are you there? 00:31 Yes, Tim, how are you? 00:32 I'm doing awesome. You look great. 00:34 Thank you. 00:36 And that sun is just falling right on to your face, 00:37 and I'm jealous. 00:38 But, hey, that's all right. I'll get over it. 00:40 But thank you for being on the program. 00:43 How long have you been involved in music? 00:46 What's your story there? 00:48 Well, my mother says that when she was pregnant 00:52 and she would play the piano 00:54 'cause she's a pianist like you are, 00:56 that I would punch and kick in her belly. 00:59 Oh, wow. 01:00 And so she figured that I had some kind of rhythm. 01:01 And at the age of two, 01:03 she gave me a plastic saxophone, 01:04 and I started picking out 01:06 little church tunes at that time. 01:09 And at the age of five, 01:10 she took me to my first violin lesson. 01:12 And I've been playing ever since, 01:13 so for over 40 years. 01:15 That is wonderful. And you've been... 01:16 You travel and you play in churches 01:19 and concert halls, 01:21 that's what you do, right? 01:22 That's your thing? 01:23 That's right. Great. 01:25 Every weekend, somewhere else. 01:26 Oh, wow. What a ministry! 01:28 I know, I have been a road musician in the past, 01:30 and there is nothing like the road, 01:32 there is nothing like being able to travel around 01:35 and see the country. 01:37 But tell me what music means more than just traveling, 01:40 I'm sure, 'cause I know that gets old. 01:42 So there has to be somewhat better reason 01:44 for what you do than just to get to see the country. 01:48 Well, music for me, is an opportunity to share, 01:51 not only the talent that God has given me 01:54 but the story that He has given me 01:56 to share with others. 01:57 And so I look at it as a way to communicate with people, 02:02 a way to open doors, 02:03 and perhaps, share in a way that is not as intrusive, 02:08 some people are not interested in coming to church necessarily 02:11 but they'll come to a concert. 02:13 And all of sudden, they are excited 02:15 about learning about Jesus Christ. 02:17 Right. 02:18 And so music really, for me, is a way to communicate 02:20 and share what God has put in my heart. 02:22 Right. That's awesome. 02:24 I think that's kind of like John the Baptist. 02:25 We prepare the way for the message. 02:28 That's right. So that's wonderful. 02:30 Great gift. 02:31 Thank you for sharing it with the people that you share. 02:33 And speaking of sharing, 02:35 I think it would be kind of fun, 02:37 you wouldn't happen to have your violin close by, 02:39 would you? 02:42 Here it is. Oh, well, wonder of wonders. 02:45 Well, so what do you think about playing a tune together 02:48 just for the entertainment of the people here? 02:52 Well, it would be an honor 02:53 because I have seen you play for years, 02:55 so many different stages 02:58 that I would love that opportunity. 02:59 Cool. Well, what do you want to play? 03:02 How about a happy song that reminds us 03:04 of what Jesus is preparing for us 03:06 when we all get to heaven? 03:08 Oh, we love that song here. 03:10 Okay, good. 03:11 Well, I think I'll play in a neutral key 03:15 in the key of C, is that good for you? 03:17 You got it. Okay. 04:32 Nice. 04:33 Great job. 04:34 Jamie, thank you so much. I appreciate you. 04:37 And I look forward to working with you sometime, 04:39 all right? 04:40 You got it. It'd be a privilege. 04:41 God bless you, brother. Thank you. 04:43 You too. 04:45 I love that country out there that Jamie's in. 04:47 And this song is requested from Margareta 04:50 in Burlington, New Jersey on the other coast. 04:53 And it's got some descriptive words 04:55 talking about our redeemer and nature, 04:58 and it's really lovely, it's a contemporary tune. 05:01 I think you'll love this song. 05:02 If you know it, sing along. 05:09 Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning? 05:15 And who told the ocean you can only come this far? 05:23 And who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening? 05:30 Whose words alone can catch a falling star? 05:36 Well, I know my Redeemer lives 05:44 I know my Redeemer lives 05:51 All of creation testifies 05:55 This life within me cries 05:58 I know my Redeemer lives 06:34 O I know my Redeemer lives 06:42 I know my Redeemer lives 06:49 All of creation testifies 06:53 That this life within me cry 06:56 I know my Redeemer 07:02 He lives to take away my shame 07:09 And He lives forever, I'll proclaim 07:16 That the payment for my sin 07:19 Was the precious life He gave 07:23 But now He's alive and there's an empty grave 07:33 Now I know my Redeemer lives 07:41 I know my Redeemer lives 07:48 Let all creation testify 07:52 Let this life within me cry 07:55 I know my Redeemer lives 08:14 Yes, he lives. 08:18 Praise the Lord.
