00:01 Hi and welcome back to Your Favorites By Request.
00:03 I have a dear friend John Lomacang 00:05 that has joined me. 00:06 Tim, anytime you say, come and sing, 00:09 I'm happy to be there. 00:10 Great 'cause I love what you add to the program. 00:13 And, you know, friends are... 00:16 Well, they're wonderful to have... 00:17 That's right. 00:18 Good to have, good to be able to call in time of trouble, 00:21 and, you know, there's a couple of songs in the secular world 00:25 like, "Lean on me," 00:26 and, "You've got a friend in me," 00:28 and, "Just call on my name, I'll be there." 00:32 You know, songs like that that are friend-oriented songs 00:36 and we have a lot of friends that watch this program... 00:38 That's right. 00:39 They send me their request and we sing their requests 00:42 so they remain my friend that way. 00:44 Some are conditional. 00:45 No, you're not conditional, friends. 00:46 That's right. 00:48 But we have a friend in Jesus 00:49 that we can reach out to any time, night or day. 00:52 And I received this request and I love this song. 00:55 It takes me back a few years 00:57 and I think you might know it well too. 00:59 Yeah. 01:00 So let's just sing it together, 01:02 "Reach out to Jesus." 01:12 Is your burden heavy 01:16 As you bear it all alone 01:20 Sing along. 01:22 Does the road you travel 01:25 Harbor danger yet unknown 01:30 Are you growing weary 01:34 In the struggle of it all 01:39 Jesus will help you 01:44 When on His name you call 01:48 Sing in now. 01:49 He is always there 01:52 Hearing ev'ry prayer 01:54 Faithful and true 01:58 Walking by our side In His love we hide 02:03 All the day through 02:08 When you get discouraged 02:12 Just remember what to do 02:17 Reach out to Jesus 02:21 He's reaching out to you 02:28 Is the life you're living 02:32 Filled with sorrow and despair 02:37 Does the future press you 02:41 With its worry and its care 02:46 Are you tired and friendless 02:49 Have you almost lost your way 02:55 Jesus will help you 02:59 Just come to Him today 03:04 He is always there Hearing ev'ry prayer 03:08 Faithful and true 03:12 Walking by our side Walking by our side 03:15 In His love we hide 03:17 All the day through 03:22 When you get discouraged 03:26 Just remember what to do 03:29 What do we do, Tim? 03:31 We reach out to Jesus 03:35 Again. 03:36 Reach out to Jesus 03:39 One more time. 03:41 Reach out to Jesus 03:46 He's reaching out to you 03:55 Amen. Amen. 03:56 That take me back to my camp meeting days 03:58 and I always say this, 04:00 but most of those are New York City, 04:03 Upstate New York, Brooklyn, 04:05 and this is one of those evangelistic songs 04:07 when the evangelist that hasn't come out to preach yet, 04:10 but the song leaders get in the crowd warmed up... 04:13 That's right. 04:14 And this is one of those songs that he would do. 04:15 That was good. Yeah. 04:17 And such meaning, 04:18 He's reaching out to us if we just reach out to Him. 04:20 So here's another song talking about 04:22 reaching out and His nearness to us. 04:26 You'll recognize it. 04:37 I was shackled 04:39 By a heavy burden 04:46 'Neath a load of guilt and shame 04:55 Then the hand of Jesus touched me 05:03 And now I am no longer the same 05:12 He touched me 05:14 Oh He touched me 05:20 And oh the joy 05:24 That floods my soul! 05:30 Something wonderful happened 05:34 And now I know 05:39 He touched me and made me whole 05:46 Sing about it. 05:48 Since I met this blessed Savior 05:56 And since He's cleansed 06:00 And made me whole 06:05 Oh I will never cease 06:10 To praise Him 06:13 I'll shout it 06:16 While eternity rolls 06:20 Sing it now. Sing along at home. 06:22 For He touched me 06:26 Oh He touched me 06:32 And oh the joy 06:36 That floods my soul! 06:42 Something happened 06:46 And now I know 06:52 He touched me 06:56 And made me whole 07:03 Just one touch. 07:06 That's how powerful He is. 07:09 He touched me and made me whole 07:13 Amen. Precious. 07:14 Precious. 07:16 There are some great hymns in the hymnal. 07:20 And page 520 in the Adventist hymnal has a great, great song, 07:24 "He hideth my soul. 07:25 A Wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord." 07:28 Well, we're just talking about how good He is, 07:29 we'll just keep it up, right? 07:31 We could go on for days, you know that, and for years. 07:46 A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord 07:54 A wonderful Savior to me 08:00 He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock 08:08 Where rivers of pleasure I see 08:15 He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock 08:22 That shadows a dry, thirsty land 08:29 He hideth my life in the depths of His love 08:37 And covers me there with His hand 08:44 And covers me there with His hand 08:51 Sing at home. 08:53 A wonderful Savior 08:56 Is Jesus my Lord 09:01 He taketh my burden away 09:09 Then He holdeth me up 09:13 And I shall not be moved 09:18 He giveth me strength as my day 09:26 He hideth my soul 09:30 In the cleft of the rock 09:35 That shadows 09:37 a dry, thirsty land 09:43 He hideth my life 09:47 In the depths of His love 09:53 And covers me there 09:56 With His hand 10:01 And covers me there 10:07 With His hand 10:43 He hideth my soul 10:48 In the cleft of the rock 10:52 That shadows a dry and thirsty land 10:59 He hideth my life 11:05 In the depths of His love 11:11 And covers me there 11:15 With His hand 11:20 And covers me there 11:24 With His hand 11:27 I like this verse right here. 11:31 When clothed with His brightness 11:35 Transported I rise 11:38 To meet Him in clouds of the sky 11:44 His perfect salvation, His wonderful love 11:52 I'll shout with the millions on high 12:01 He hideth my soul 12:06 In the cleft of the rock 12:10 That shadows 12:13 a dry, thirsty land 12:19 He hideth my life 12:24 In the depths of His love 12:31 And covers me there 12:37 With His hand 12:42 And covers me there 12:50 With His hand 13:04 Precious Lord. I love that. 13:07 Sweet. 13:08 Can't hear that song without thinking about Moses 13:11 when he asked to see God's glory. 13:14 The Lord said, "You hide in that rock 13:16 and when I pass by, just peek." 13:18 Right. 13:19 And that alone was so grand... Yeah. 13:22 That he had to have something covering his face... 13:26 When He came down from the mount. 13:29 And when we think of our lives, why are we still here? 13:33 Because He covers us with His hand. 13:35 Yeah. 13:36 I had a bird once run into a window in our home. 13:39 Little bird, and he sat on the ground. 13:40 It shocked me because I knew that it wasn't... 13:43 Some of them do it intentionally 13:44 to get your attention for the food, 13:46 but I knew that this is 13:47 the one, little sparrow had just... 13:49 The glow of the sun, 13:50 he thought he was continuing to fly outside 13:52 and he hit it with such force and I was so hurt. 13:56 I went and picked him up, 13:58 and I just closed my eyes and I prayed, 14:00 then I put a little red cloth on the outside table 14:04 and laid him on there, and then I found... 14:07 Get something, get something, I found a little dropper 14:09 and I squeezed water and just kept 14:11 putting it in his mouth, putting it in his mouth 14:13 and I closed my eyes and prayed again, 14:15 and I just covered him with my hand just to warm him up. 14:21 And I felt him twitching and I laid him down. 14:25 And in a matter of maybe 10 minutes, 14:27 he sit up, kind of... 14:29 I don't know if he gave me a glance to say thank you, 14:31 but he looked at me and then he flew away. 14:33 And I thought, wow, the Lord does that to us. 14:35 When we fall, sometimes life seems to be all ahead of us, 14:38 we run into something that just stuns us 14:41 and He hides us in His hand, He covers our soul. 14:45 Right. What a beautiful song. 14:47 Yeah, great imagery. 14:48 Praise God for that. 14:50 The craft of songwriting is so amazing 14:52 how songwriters can make things... 14:55 You can see it as you're singing it, 14:57 so it's a wonderful thing. 15:00 This is a song for Carolyn, 15:03 who has requested "In Christ alone." 15:06 There are a couple of great songwriters 15:09 Keith and Kristen Getty. 15:12 Right. 15:13 So we're going to sing this song for Carolyn. 15:18 You sing it at home. 15:59 In Christ alone. 16:00 In Christ alone, who took on flesh 16:06 Fullness of God in helpless babe 16:11 This gift of love and righteousness 16:16 Scorned by the ones He came to save 16:21 Till on that cross as Jesus died 16:27 The wrath of God was satisfied 16:32 For every sin on Him was laid 16:37 Here in the death of Christ I live 16:45 John, you want to sing this verse? 16:49 There in the ground His body lay 16:54 Light of the world by darkness slain 17:00 Then bursting forth in glorious day 17:05 Up from the grave He rose again! 17:10 And as He stands in victory 17:16 Sin's curse has lost its grip on me 17:22 For I am His and He is mine 17:28 Bought with the precious blood of Christ 17:48 No guilt in life, no fear in death 17:53 This is the power of Christ in me 17:58 From life's first cry to final breath 18:03 Jesus commands my destiny 18:08 No power of hell, no scheme of man 18:13 Can ever pluck me from His hand 18:18 Till He returns to call me home 18:24 Here in the power of Christ I'll stand 18:39 Till He returns and calls me home 18:45 Here in the power of Christ I'll stand 19:01 Praise the Lord. 19:03 It's in Christ alone. 19:05 Totally in Christ alone, 19:06 nothing added, nothing subtracted, 19:08 simply Christ. 19:11 You know, when we think about 19:12 the only ingredient we need in our lives 19:15 to be day-by-day strengthened 19:18 and victorious in Christ alone, 19:20 I can do all things through Christ 19:22 who strengthens me. 19:23 If anyone is in Christ, he's a new creation. 19:25 And that's what I like about this song, 19:27 it reminds us that Christ is the focus, 19:29 Christ is the beginning, Christ is the end, 19:32 Christ is our only hope. 19:33 So thank you, Tim, for inviting me 19:35 to share in that joy on this program by request. 19:38 Again, you add so much, you're a good friend. 19:41 I am honored that you are watching, 19:43 I'm honored that you send in your requests. 19:45 Continue to do so at 19:46 tim.parton@3abn.org 19:50 We always have a great time... That's right. 19:51 And we sing songs that we know, songs we don't know so well, 19:54 but it's all about Christ. 19:56 If it edifies Christ and lifts Him up, 19:58 we're all about it. 20:00 So come back and join us next time. 20:08 Send me your song 20:09 Then you sing along with me 20:18 Your Favorites by Request La la la 20:24 La la la |
