00:01 Hi, welcome back.
00:03 I hope you're ready to sing. 00:04 I've invited my friend John Lomacang to join us. 00:07 John always adds so much to the program. 00:10 And you know a number of these songs 00:12 that we're going to do on the second half, don't you? 00:14 Yes, yes. 00:15 Some of them I had the privilege of doing on 00:17 when I was in the Heritage Singers. 00:18 Right. Yep. 00:19 And this is as best, 00:21 I could almost see the concert 00:22 when I first sang this song not as a solo 00:24 but we always did it as a group. 00:26 It's a really good one. 00:27 He washed my eyes with tears. 00:29 Gail, this is for you in Duluth, Minnesota. 00:41 He washed my eyes with tears 00:46 That I might see 00:51 The broken heart 00:54 I had was good for me 01:01 He tore it all apart 01:07 And looked inside 01:11 He found it full of fear 01:17 And foolish pride 01:22 He swept away the things 01:27 That made me blind 01:32 And then I saw the clouds 01:38 Were silver lined 01:43 And now I understand 01:48 'Twas best for me 01:53 He washed my eyes with tears 01:58 That I might see 02:04 He washed my eyes with tears 02:09 That I might see 02:14 The glory of Himself 02:20 Revealed to me 02:25 I did not know 02:28 That He Had wounded hands 02:35 I saw the blood He spilled 02:41 Upon the sand 02:46 I saw the marks of shame 02:52 And wept and cried 02:57 He was my Substitute 03:02 For me He died 03:08 And now I'm glad He came 03:13 So tenderly 03:19 And washed my eyes with tears 03:24 That I might see 03:30 He washed my eyes with tears 03:35 That I might see. 03:43 Very nice. 03:45 That's a great song. That's good. 03:46 I never did it as a solo. Yeah. 03:48 Well, you can't say that anymore. 03:50 No, I can't say that anymore. 03:51 Thank you, Max. 03:53 If you're watching, for teaching me this song 03:56 30 some years ago. 03:57 Nice. Nice. 03:58 Oh, that's great that you know. 04:00 Can you imagine 04:01 the number of songs that you've sung, 04:03 the number of scriptures you've read? 04:04 Man, I tell you, and you know, 04:06 they come back every now and then, 04:08 it could be a place I've gone or a song I hear or 04:11 some kind of memory, 04:13 is strangely enough 04:14 even sometimes if I smell a particular cologne 04:16 that I wore way back then while sitting in concert. 04:19 That's, that is amazing. 04:21 I know, I tell you the smell that reminds me 04:24 of a lot of songs is the smell of diesel. 04:26 Because being on a bus, 04:28 of all the years that I travelled on a bus. 04:31 I can smell that 04:32 and I can go back on stage and... 04:34 I'm right there with you. 04:35 I know what you're saying. Yeah. 04:37 So that's the power of a song 04:38 and the connection of our senses. 04:40 And God made all of that. 04:42 And this great computer that the Lord gave us 04:44 that records it all. 04:45 Right. That's amazing. 04:47 Yeah, it is amazing. 04:48 This next song is a song written by a man 04:52 who was commissioned 04:54 to write a song for World Relief 04:57 and he says that all he could think of 04:59 was the terrible plight of the needy people 05:03 of starving bodies and the ravages of drought, 05:07 which really didn't seem very suitable for him. 05:12 And then he thought of what our reaction 05:14 to such things should be. 05:16 As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit to prod us 05:19 and open our eyes to the needs right under our nose, 05:24 right where we live, 05:25 where we can show the love of Jesus. 05:28 So this song is a convicting reminder 05:31 to let our heart be broken. 05:34 This is in page, on page 575. 05:38 I'm going to read along here. 05:50 Let your heart be broken 05:54 For a world in need 05:58 Feed the mouths that hunger 06:02 Soothe the wounds that bleed 06:06 Give the cup of water 06:10 And the loaf of bread 06:14 Be the hands of Jesus 06:18 Serving in His stead 06:55 Blest to be a blessing 06:58 Privileged to care 07:02 Challenged by the need 07:05 Apparent everywhere 07:10 Where mankind is wanting 07:14 Fill the vacant place 07:18 Be the means through which the Lord 07:22 reveals His grace 07:26 Great words. 07:27 Add to your believing deeds 07:32 That prove it true 07:35 Knowing Christ as Savior 07:38 Make Him Master, too 07:42 Follow in His footsteps 07:46 Go where He has trod 07:50 In the world's great trouble 07:53 Risk yourself for God 08:04 Let your heart be tender 08:08 And your vision clear 08:12 See mankind as God sees 08:16 Serve Him far and near 08:21 Let Your heart be broken 08:24 By a brother's pain 08:28 Share your rich resources 08:32 Give and give again 08:41 Powerful words. 08:42 Song of mission 08:44 I could mean 08:45 the dissident sound that it has. 08:47 I could see somebody walking through a line 08:50 and people just with so many needs 08:52 being supplied and that song is just 08:54 kind of resonating in the background. 08:56 Yeah, I love that line in there 08:58 in the world's great trouble risk yourself for God. 09:04 Lot of people doing that. Yeah, yeah. 09:07 Wow, that's powerful. 09:08 And, you know, Tim, we risk that 09:10 because of that morning that came. 09:12 Everything that we do would have been of no value 09:16 had the resurrection morning not come. 09:19 And what a blessing it is. 09:20 That's why I just love this song, 09:22 Then Came the Morning 09:30 They all walked away 09:33 With nothing to say 09:36 They'd just lost their dearest friend 09:43 All that He said 09:46 Now He was dead 09:49 So this is the way it would end 09:56 The dreams they had dreamed 10:00 Were not what they'd seemed 10:02 Now that He was dead and gone 10:09 The garden, the jail, the hammer, the nail 10:16 How could a night 10:20 Be so long? 10:29 The angel, the star, the kings from afar 10:35 The wedding, the water, the wine 10:42 Now it was done, they'd taken her Son 10:49 Wasted before His time 10:56 She knew it was true 10:59 She watched Him die too 11:02 She heard them call Him just a man 11:08 But deep in her heart she knew from the start 11:15 Somehow her Son 11:19 Would live again 11:25 Then came the morning 11:33 Night turned into day 11:38 The stone was rolled away 11:45 Hope rose with the dawn 11:51 Then came the morning 11:57 Shadows vanished before the sun 12:03 Death had lost and life had won 12:09 For morning had come 12:15 Then came the morning 12:22 Shadows vanished before the sun 12:28 Death had lost and life had won 12:34 For morning had come. 12:45 Amen. 12:46 Amen. 12:48 Powerful song, What a great picture. 12:50 I mean, I'm telling you that you just see this, 12:52 the sun rising, 12:54 and with it the Son of man is rising. 12:55 Yes. Right. 12:57 If it were not for, you know, people say, 12:59 "Well, Jesus died on the cross." 13:00 That's true. 13:02 But I thanked the Lord for the empty tomb. 13:04 Right. 13:05 Because a lot of people died on crosses, 13:08 but only one was victorious over death. 13:10 Praise the Lord for that. 13:11 As you know, there's a song we sing it often in church. 13:15 I serve a risen Savior 13:19 He's in the world today 13:22 I know that He is living 13:25 Whatever men may say 13:29 I see His hand of mercy 13:32 I hear His voice of cheer 13:35 And just the time I need Him 13:38 He's always near 13:41 He lives, He lives Christ Jesus lives today 13:47 He walks with me and talks with me 13:50 Along life's narrow way 13:53 He lives, He lives 13:56 Salvation to impart 14:01 You ask me how I know 14:06 He lives? 14:08 He lives 14:12 Within my heart 14:17 Let's do the rejoice? Yes, let's do it. 14:20 God upon. 14:21 Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian 14:23 Lift up your voice and sing 14:26 Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King 14:31 The Hope of all who seek Him The Help of all who find 14:37 None other is so loving So good and kind 14:43 He lives, He lives Christ Jesus lives today 14:49 He walks with me and talks with me 14:52 Along life's narrow way 14:56 He lives, He lives, 14:59 Salvation to impart 15:04 You ask me how I know He lives? 15:11 He lives 15:16 Within my heart. 15:28 Amen. Amen. 15:29 I love those. 15:31 There's another verse in there in the middle that we left out, 15:33 but we don't have time for it. 15:36 And besides, I couldn't remember it 15:37 on the spot. 15:39 We practice the transparency rules. 15:42 So thank you so very much. 15:44 Don't forget to send us your request. 15:46 Tim.parton@3abn.org 15:49 We want to hear from you. 15:50 Thanks for singing along. 16:12 Send me your song 16:14 Then you sing along with me 16:23 Your Favorites By Request 16:26 La, la, la 16:29 La, la, la |
